Introducing… For the first time ever… New nonstop flights connecting Portland International Airport and London’s Heathrow Airport.
Operated by Delta Air Lines and partner Virgin Atlantic, the seasonal flights launched May 25 and run four days per week through Oct. 2. We welcome the service, as PDX travel to Europe roughly doubles in the summer.
In addition to inspiring tourism, the route will help grow and strengthen business markets between the two regions. Nearly one in four Oregon jobs are supported by international trade and most Oregon exporters are small and medium-sized businesses.
It’s notable that fewer than 20 markets in the United States have year-around transoceanic service. Of this elite list, Portland is the smallest market to have nonstop year-around service to both Europe and Asia, and Delta provides that service from PDX to both Tokyo and Amsterdam.
Delta’s new London service inspired a virtual British invasion right here at PDX. The gate celebration featured a DJ spinning UK hits, afternoon tea with scones and finger sandwiches from Capers Café, and a classic red telephone box for London-inspired selfies – Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler and wife, Katrina, even got into the act. London awaits you!
