Can you share a bit about your background and what drew you to apply for an internship at the Port?

I graduated with my B.S in business from Western Oregon University in 2018. I am currently going into my second and final year of the MBA program at Willamette University.

The Port offered me the opportunity to learn and grow as a young professional within a high-quality organization. This position also allows me the chance to apply what I have learned in my schooling to a real-world environment. Helping me gain valuable skills and experiences I can utilize in my career moving forward.

In a few sentences, describe your work at the Port.

My job consists of working with and supporting all the concessionaires at PDX. My primary project is street pricing; our street pricing program is an agreement that we have with all of the concessionaires at PDX. It assures that the prices at PDX are comparable to their street location in the greater Portland area. My job is to do the audits and work with each tenant at PDX to confirm they are within compliance of their lease terms.

What do you find most rewarding about your work?

Getting the opportunity to see and participate in all the work that goes into successfully running a top-notch airport such as PDX. It really is special to see all the collaboration, teamwork, and hard work that goes into making everything at PDX run smoothly day in and day out.

What do you like to do in your free time?

I enjoy doing outdoor activities like hiking, snowboarding, and surfing. But I mainly just relax and hang out with friends and family.

Our careers website plays with the idea that “We’re not what you’d expect.” What can you share about yourself that might surprise your Port colleagues?

This might not surprise some of the colleagues that already know me but I was born and raised in Hawaii.
